A year flies by, and no posts.

:[ August 26th, 2007

We decided to not go out as our beloved Camp Evolution this year. Instead, we need to go out to the playa, reset, refresh, and recharge our collective creative minds. I am hoping that something positive will come from this, and we will be back on in full force next year as Camp Evolution.

Until then … we will be hosted by another fellow camp this year, and look forward to the lack of responsibilities. Hope to see you there.

New Tent Pictures

:[ August 17th, 2006

Finally … here are the recent pictures of the tent. This time, we were able to get the center poles installed … {which I had to reconstruct again after taking this tent down}, and with one of the side walls down.

I should have pictures of the remaining projects up this weekend.

The Center Tent

:[ August 9th, 2006

We continue to make progress. Aaron and I were able to set the tent up over the weekend to prepare ourselves for any potential problems out on the playa. And as we thought, we ran into quite a few, and we’re better prepared for it. One thing that we didn’t do, and I still am not sure what we were thinking, was NOT take the walls down to see how far they went to the ground. It looks like we’ll be bringing up some equipment to cut the side poles down once we’re up there. There’s no way in hell you’re going to get me to set that beast up again before we go.

We begin the task

Hours later …

Updated Camp Layout

:[ August 9th, 2006

Now that we have an address, {7:30 Plaza at 10:00}, and *approximate* measurements, I was able to redraw the camp layout. We have also changed a few items within the camp itself. The tent is twice as long as originally anticipated, and I had one too many trailers listed on the original camp layout.

A video I found from last year …

:[ July 22nd, 2006

I seem to be stuck on finding material from last year rather than working on the projects for this year. It could be the 110 degree heat I’m avoiding … or just my procrastinating nature. Either way … here is a video I found, hope you enjoy.

Where’s Zerbo - Ariel Shot of 4:00 to 6:00

:[ July 22nd, 2006

I was looking through the ariel shots found here and finally found our camp from last year. {Actually, it was Crash who found it in about ten seconds, after I spent 30 minutes searching.} Here’s a hint … we are located in the left-hand side of the photo … good luck.

And here is a great page with full panorama views of the entire city of last year. It’s worth checking out when you get a chance.

Yet another art installation totally missed

:[ June 28th, 2006

How is it you can spend several days out on the open desert, nothing obstructing your view, and you still miss art installations that were out there?

I stumbled apon this photo on a random search. Here we are, less than two months to go, and I still find more out there from last year that I missed.

An Art Installation

Desert Survival

:[ April 24th, 2006

I found this while surfing the web and thought it was somewhat amusing. I especially liked the chapter’s recommendation regarding the desert areas similar to the type of desert we will be facing: “Avoid these areas if possible.”

Camp Evolution is born

:[ April 18th, 2006

I got the domain, the web space, and a beginning site. The first thing that I will work on is getting a forum page so we have a simple way to communicate and gather sites.

After that I will work on design.
